FAQS

WHAT IS THIS?

Vegans who used to be vegetarians created the VEG2VEGAN Challenge to offer vegetarians an easy way to try vegan for 30 days. During the month of November, participants receive information, inspiration, and support for the process of replacing dairy and eggs with plant-based alternatives. Along with handy tips and delicious recipes, challenge participants gain a community of support for their vegan journey.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Everybody wants to be healthy, happy, and true to themselves. Most people also want to do whatever they can to preserve the planet. Anybody who wants to reduce their dairy or egg consumption for any reason is welcome to sign up! This program was especially designed for vegetarians who have found it hard to go fully vegan. The VEG2VEGAN Challenge makes it fun and easy!

WHY GO VEGAN?

Going vegetarian is an achievement that many people are rightly proud to have accomplished. Going vegan is the logical next step for most vegetarians:

  • Since dairy and eggs also contain cholesterol and many people are lactose intolerant without knowing it, people who have given up meat to improve their heath can do even more to take care of themselves by going vegan.
  • Since the environmental impact of cheese is higher than that of many meat products, people who have gone vegetarian for the planet will want to get the dairy out of their diet too.
  • Since cows on dairy farms and hens in egg factories suffer for many months or years and then still are slaughtered, people who have given up meat because they don’t want to hurt animals can show even more kindness by going vegan.

WHO IS BEHIND THIS?

All of the people who designed this program were vegetarian for many years before going vegan. The VEG2VEGAN Challenge is a project of VINE Sanctuary in cooperation with the Afro-Vegan Society. VINE is an LGBTQ-led refuge for farmed animals. Afro-Vegan Society is a nationwide association of Black vegans.

IS IT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP?

Nope! Sign up anytime before or during the month of November, and you will gain access to the whole month’s worth of advise, inspiration, and recipes!

I’M VEGAN! HOW CAN I HELP?

Challenge your vegetarian friends and family to sign up. Offer them help and support them during the month. Be sure to tell them why you think this would help them become more true to themselves. Are they concerned about their heart health? Climate change? Share what you know about the harmful effects of dairy, and encourage them to try plant-based alternatives for 30 days. You can also donate to support the challenge. And, please, be sure to share the challenge on social media!
